Just getting myself back into Substack and this was just what I needed. Oh do I hear you about failing, and learning and humility and sitting with the discomfort of getting it wrong! But also the gentleness we need to move through and forward from that. Gentleness to ourselves, our companions on our paths and grace to be shown where we misstepped. We can’t hear or learn if we were hardened but it’s so difficult to lower those barriers, especially when chronically ill.
I so love the reminder about how hardening shuts off learning and connection - it can be so instinctual and yet the idea of softening feels so much more appealing. I am thinking of the kind of permeability, allowing for learning and shifting and connection and that is really landing a lot for me. Wonderful to have you here Ry and excited to connection and learn together.
Yes, softening into challenging times. What does that look like? Changing the perception that softness is weakness or letting go of values/activism/advocacy but instead softness being strength
yesss! such a great point about it feeling like it can be a dropping of values, but actually we need softness in order to learn and grow and connect. And actually the idea of being hard and firm / not changing is very much from the opposite model and not something I want to be embodying. ooooh Im very much feeling this point thank you Ry
